LISE ALL LISE! I thought if I helped out the British in the war, life would be better. But it is as if I am a slave again. They haven’t done anything in return for my services. How am I meant to survive? I have no shelter, no money, and no food. I can’t even farm, because I have land with poor soil. I did as much for the British in that war as the next loyalist but because I am a black loyalist I receive supplies last. I haven’t even started building a shelter yet because no lumber, or nails have been sent. Some of the Black Loyalists that moved to Nova Scotia for a better life have started working for other Loyalists because they need the money. The only reason we came hear was to be free, and no longer be a slave, but now we have no other way to survive! That we have to become slaves again! I am very angry and disappointed. I don’t know what I will do!
